Ready, Set, Blog!

Well, here we go. I have decided to jump on the blogging bandwagon. A girlfriend of mine shared their blog with us back in April and I find that I can't wait for their weekly updates. We thought that this would be a great way for those of you interested to keep track of all the chaos that goes on around here. That and a great way for ME to keep track of all the chaos that goes on around here. I find myself thinking...."man, I should be writing this down before I forget what has happened." So if nothing else I am creating a journal of our lives. Something we can look back on and laugh at. So if you are interested....add us to your favorites and check back often. I promise that there will be some comic relief in here somewhere.

This week has been no different than any other week in our home. Six people going six different directions. Dana and I strategically planning each day..."I'll go here if you go there." "You take him and I'll take her." So far that strategy works. Our cell phone minutes get a work out and Dana and I are becoming masters in the art of the text. However, our words are always spelled out and grammatically proper. I'm pretty sure that Jordan shares our texting faux pas with his friends and they all get a great laugh at our expense. After all, isn't that what parents are for?

Jordan has been busy with baseball, weight lifting, basketball, cross country training, and his social life. Yes, you are correct...no job. We would love for him to get one however, none of us are sure when he would fit it in. So for now, we continue to fill his gas tank and flip him a small amount of cash for fun. I think he knows that he could have more fun with his own cash and hasn't taken advantage of us in anyway. This weekend he spent most of it at Drake with the basketball team at a team camp. He scored 12 points in their first game this morning and made a 3/4 court shot at the buzzer. Of course, we weren't there to see his team erupt in cheers. Sounds like they played well. He is the starting pitcher in tomorrow nights baseball game. He got great help from Carson washing his car today. Apparently, some female friends decorated the windows with their affections while he played ball yesterday. Very cute!

Abbey's softball season is over and they did great. She is a great 2nd baseman and is very proficient with the bunt. She is our lefty. She also loves to be out on the lake and a few weeks ago braved the sub 70 degree waters to tube at Panora behind Uncle Bill's boat. She is such an awesome young lady and a great help here at home. She is spending her summer going to the pool, helping me, and babysitting for some of the neighbor family's. I don't know how I would get through some days without her help. She is a true blessing. She loves to get all the neighbor kids involved in foot races in our yard and some of them give her quite a run for her money! She is training this summer for her first year in cross country this fall. Most of this weekend was spent improving her Wii skills.

Carson is growing leaps and bounds. He is spending this summer riding a 2 wheel bike, conquering the monkey bars, and playing with the gang of friends that run from yard to yard and house to house. He continues to be our comic relief. And just when I have had it up to here with him, he looks at me with those big brown eyes and says..."I love you, Mommy." Who can resist that? This weekend was spent doing all the above things, helping Jordan wash his car, and helping us restain the playset.

Emma is preparing to turn 4 in a few weeks. We are planning a party fit for a princess. The invites are out, the cake ordered, and the balloon artist hired. It should be so much fun. She is our girly girl. Wanting to wear a dress every day. As you will see in the photo montage she even plays baseball in her dresses. Despite her girliness, she still keep up with all the boys in our neighborhood. Wants to make sure she doesn't miss out on anything. This weekend she played with the neighbors, practiced hitting balls with dad and watched her new favorite movie...Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Yes, we encourage kids friendly movies at our house. Yikes!

Dana and I spent the weekend cleaning up from the week and staining our playset. I had power washed it about a month ago and we are finally getting around to sealing it. We haven't been able to be out in our boat, as many of you know, the flooding has really taken away our safe boating location. Saylorville has no open ramps and the debris is still quite dangerous. We broke down and drove to Clear Lake last weekend because the boat was actually still winterized. We have a little vacation coming up and we wanted to make sure that the boat was running well before we took it to Table Rock. The water was very cold! Carson was brave and tubed for a little bit. We really just ran the cobwebs out of the motor and anchored in a calm area and just enjoyed being together. All 6 of us in a 25 foot boat!! YeeHaw!!

Well, I have been extremely long winded. The weekly posts probably won't be this long. (I know, those of you that know me well are shaking your head!) Anyway, enjoy the video montage of some pictures from our weekend and of the kids.
